Privacy policy

At Botifarra.app we respect your privacy and want to be transparent about how we handle your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect, why we do it and how we protect it, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD).
1. Data controller
The controller of your personal data is Botifarra.app. You can contact us via hola@botifarra.app for any matters related to the protection of your personal data and the exercise of your rights.
2. Data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data: username, email address, selected avatar, game statistics (games played, ELO score, wins/losses), settings preferences, information about the team you belong to, game history, and technical information such as IP address, device type and browsing data necessary to provide the service.
3. Processing purposes
We use your personal data for the following purposes: (1) providing you with game services and managing real-time games, (2) managing your user account and keeping your information up to date, (3) improving the gaming experience through statistical analysis and AI development, (4) communicating with you about updates, news and game-related notifications, (5) ensuring platform security and preventing fraud or misuse, and (6) complying with applicable legal obligations.
4. Legal basis
The legal basis for processing your data is: (1) execution of the service contract when you register and use the app, as processing is needed to provide the requested services, (2) your explicit consent to send you promotional communications and optional notifications, which you can withdraw at any time, (3) our legitimate interest in improving services, developing new features, preventing fraud and ensuring security for all users, and (4) compliance with legal obligations, such as retaining tax data.
5. Data retention
Your personal data will be kept as long as your account is active on the platform. If you delete your account, your personal data will be securely erased within a maximum of 30 calendar days, except for data we must retain to meet legal obligations, such as tax data retained for 6 years under current accounting and tax regulations. Anonymized game statistics may be kept indefinitely for analytical purposes.
6. Data sharing
We do not share, sell or rent your personal data to third parties for commercial or marketing purposes. We only share strictly necessary information with service providers that help us run the application, such as hosting, web analytics, payment processing and messaging providers, always under strict confidentiality and data-processing agreements. We may also share your data when required by law, court order or competent authority.
7. User rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data: (1) right of access to know what data we have about you, (2) right of rectification if the data is inaccurate or incomplete, (3) right of erasure or 'right to be forgotten' to delete your data, (4) right to restrict processing under certain circumstances, (5) right to object to processing of your data, (6) right to data portability to receive your data in a structured format, and (7) right to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at hola@botifarra.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) if you believe your rights have been violated. You can also delete your account and all associated data yourself, without signing in, at botifarra.app/en/delete-account (or from the app: Profile → “Delete account”).
8. Speech recognition and app voice
If you turn on voice control (Settings › Voice), the microphone audio is processed while you speak a command, for the sole purpose of turning it into text and running that command. Depending on the available recognition engine, the audio is handled by your device's service (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android or the browser vendor on the web) under its own privacy policy, or by the Botifarra.app server, which forwards it to Groq, Inc. (United States) acting as a processor. That international transfer relies on the safeguards provided for in Chapter V of the GDPR. Neither Botifarra.app nor the provider retains the audio: we receive only the recognised text, use it immediately to run the command and do not store it. The legal basis is your consent, which we ask for before the first upload and which you can withdraw at any time in Settings › Voice or by revoking the microphone permission in your device settings; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand. The voice guide and the commentary are generated on your device and send nothing anywhere.
9. Content you post (La Sobretaula)
If you post in La Sobretaula, the text you write (posts and comments) and a frozen copy of the hand or trick from the game are stored and visible to other registered users. Before being stored, the text goes through a word filter and through an artificial-intelligence model from OpenAI, Inc. (United States) that only decides whether it can be published; this international transfer relies on Chapter V of the GDPR and the text is not used to train the model. You can delete what you posted at any time, and you can report other people's content: we review it and take it down if needed. You can also block someone, and then you will not see what they post nor will they see yours. If you delete your account, your posts, comments, reactions and the reports you filed are deleted, and your name disappears from games posted by others.
10. Changes to this policy
We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time to adapt it to legislative or case-law changes or to changes in our data processing practices. Any significant change will be communicated well in advance via a prominent notice in the app or by email to the address you have provided us. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically to stay informed. The date of the last update will always be shown at the top of this document.
